Working (it) Out

For the past month+ I have been living real life. I have been going to the gym 4-5 times a week and eating pretty general food. Nothing hardcore and probably not anywhere near things that Tony would be happy with. I had to stop my Tony training due to financial issues, with property taxes and Christmas coming, well, ya know. I haven’t mentioned it for fear that the Diva’s would disown me. :)

So it comes to this, I had pretty much set my mind that I would not compete until well into next year, like October, if at all. I just think the hardcore dieting messes with my mind too much and I need my mind to do my job well.  I would love to overcome the mind issue.  For sure that is my weakest muscle.

In the mail yesterday was a packet of flyers for all the shows in the beginning of 2008. Now, I’m feeling the urge to go for it again, in MARCH! The closest I can come as to why I am changing of mind is that I LOVE the shape I’m in for competing. I just don’t know if that is a good reason. I really want to be satisfied with an off season body, albeit a little squishy. I know I’m building muscle. I’m lifting like a maniac. But is that enough? What else can push me to be in great shape like that?

I was thinking that my hubby and I would do a triathlon together, but I ‘m not sure if  that will happen.

I think our mind has everything to do with it! I have been on both sides of it…..going gangbusters, like now….and getting run over by the wagon. I don’t know where that switch is that turns it on and off. I wish I knew, because I love it when its on. Don’t you? ITS CRAZY!

I wouldn’t disown you! You have to do what you have to do. Just keep living life and don’t get too squishy :)

You will always be a Tony Diva…the work you did with him will go on to inspire no matter what path you take in the future. I hope you keep blogging, I look forward to seeing what you are up to next:)

    Hey Martha,

My advice, (if it means anything), would be to give your body a rest. Don’t rush into another show if you are wanting to place. You need to take some time to build and grow. Allow your body to “heal” so-to-speak from dieting down and such. I saw your photos and you made amazing gains since your first show. If you want to WIN, you’ve got to take an honest look at your physique, see where improvements need to be made, and work on training those areas to increase the muscle, etc. If you had an opportunity to talk with any of the judges to see where you could improve, definitely use that information, as well.

Too many shows takes a toll on the family. Be sure that you are ready mentally and physically to take on another competition.

I love the triathlon idea, I wish there was something my hubby and I could train for together, but we are so opposite ends of the spectrum (and I can’t swim!).
