Get a GRIP!

Ok, I was a weight lifting pansy three years ago. I was a beginner, lifting pretty light and I wore gloves to lift. Why? Not because I could lift heavier with them on, because I didn’t like the way the bar felt on my skin. Waaah. Bay-Bee!

So after about a year I progressed to the ever popular Versa-Grips. I now wanted to and could lift heavier, but still no touchy the bar. Solved.

Last year, about May-ish I discovered CrossFit. I read on the main website a fun phrase people throw around regarding grip, “If you’re going to wear gloves, make sure they match your purse.” Funny, huh? Maybe not if you’re a die hard glove wearer. Well, I decided to give it a shot. I mean, if I’m gonna do CrossFit, why not go all the way? So I took the gloves off. Now I am beginning to see the light. As I try to develop my pull ups and find more reasons to have a strong grip, going bare makes way more sense. I see where I am lacking. For example, today my pull ups could have been so much better if my grip hadn’t been failing so soon. Increased grip strength is becoming more important the more skills I am learning.

So now I’m challenging you! If you never have tried to lift without gloves, give it a go. Go ahead! Get a GRIP!

I’ve tried lifting without gloves and it’s not for me. It hurts my hands so dang much that is all I think about it when I lift. It takes the enjoyment out of lifting for me. And I like my soft girly hands…so can I still have your Versa Grips? I’ll get some nail polish to match them! ;)

My hands are “girly”. I was just going to put the grips on Ebay. Good thing you asked.

I wasn’t insinuating your hands aren’t “girly”. I just don’t like callouses. Cool I’m excited about the grips. I had forgotten you offered them a few months ago until I read this post! Can you bring them to church???
