No one but you.

Every so often people approach me because they know I move my body. I enjoy it and have lost a few lbs to boot. They ask questions like “how can I get my butt…um…you know…higher?” or “what should I be eating”?

At first I was like an overflowing fount of information and would shower them with advice and ideas. I even went so far as to set up a whole workout plan and diet for one person, and never hear from them again. Not even so much as a “thanks for all the hard work you did putting this together”. Along the way I learned that people want an easy fix, a magic pill and POOF! the fat will be gone, they will love eating healthy and exercise will fit into their schedule like clockwork. They also believe that they “have tried that” and “that doesn’t work for me”. I began to get more hesitant to share. But here goes, the nitty gritty.

Ok, folks here it is. There is no easy fix. You got fat and you’re going to have to work hard to get un-fat. There is NO magic pill. You have become to addicted to food, or sugar or are just plain lazy. Exercise will NOT fit into your schedule like clockwork, you have to make it fit. Make it important. How important? You decide, but some is better than none. Stop checking out those lap band ads and throw away the Alli coupons!

There is no need to join a gym. A few simple tools and you can have some great workouts at home or at the park. Sure, people will stare but not because they think you’re weird. They admire you and wish they had whatever you have.

Here’s what you need:
A good jumprope.
Jump Rope

This is the most expensive but they have one for $20!

Pull Up Bar

PU Bar

Plyo Box
This can be used for beginner push ups and dips, too. I didn’t have one of these so I use chairs or whatever I could rig up for box jumps.

Dumbbells or Weight Bar

As far as these you can go super cheap. I started with a few dumbbells. I later bought two bars, bench and plates off Craigslist for $60. A steal.

Lean Proteins

Fruits / Veggies

Nuts and Seeds

These are all the tools you need! But really, you could do a full workout on a flight of stairs.

My ultimate advice: Only you can choose to do something. Anything. Make it happen. For your health. For your family. To look in the mirror and be satisfied with what you see. There’s nothing wrong with that.
