Paleo Challenge…Countdown!

Tomorrow will be day one for those doing the Paleo Challenge with me. Here are the guidelines and how we will stay accountable. There are 7 points to follow:

1. Eat real food – meat, eggs, vegetables, nuts, seeds, fruit, oils (like EVOO or coconut). Eat foods with very few ingredients, all pronounceable ingredients, or better yet, no ingredients listed at all because they’re fresh and natural.
2. Do not eat dairy. This includes butter, cheese , yogurt  and milk (including cream in your coffee).
3. Do not eat grains. This includes bread, rice, pasta, corn , oatmeal, and all of those gluten-free pseudo-grains.
4. Do not eat legumes. This includes beans of all kinds, lentils, and peanuts. No peanut butter!
5. Do not eat sugars of any kind, real or artificial. No maple syrup, honey, agave nectar, Splenda, Truvia, Stevia, etc.
6. Do not eat processed foods. This includes protein shakes, processed bars -like Zone and Balance bars, dairy-free creamers, etc.
7. Do not drink alcohol, in any form.

Every day you get 7 points for following the guidelines, if you slip or choose to have a beer, etc., you lose that point for the day. I know some of these will be difficult for some of us, but 30 days is short. You can do this!

Some things you will have to use your judgment, like some nut butters have cane juice and such…in my eyes this would be ok since it is virtually impossible to find it without it and let’s face it,for a fat source, Sunbutter ROCKS!

You can let me know your points either on a daily basis or on a weekly basis, but please make sure to tell me what dates you are including in your emails. The points are to keep us accountable and to make sure we can easily see who the winner of the cool cookbook is at the end. Burpees will be administered to slackers! ;-)

Any questions? Let me know and I will do my best to help you out! I will post every Monday, at least and we can all comment and help each other out with encouragement and some butt kicking every now and then. We are all in this together. Let’s do this!

I’ll be posting some good links of resources later today so you can get a good grasp on what you need to buy and such. Make sure you are eating enough. We are not supposed to be starving ourselves here.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

Cool challange and rules! If Jenna is in, we might as well buy her the cookbook now so she can use it for the challenge…

  9. [...] 7. Do not drink alcohol, in any form. — We’re not doing a point system or a punishment/burpee system for our challenge. Just 100% Paleo for 30 days. The ultimate goal here is to change the quality of your food and thus change the quality of your… FILL IN THE BLANK. Your quality of rest, level of stress, performance, etc, etc. etc! – I suggest that you choose a motivator. First and foremost we are all interested in being healthy, clean-eating individuals… Secondary to that you may have a weightloss goal or a short-term performance goal. Post your weight or workout goal in the comments… When the challenge ends you can post your ending weight or do that workout within 3 days of the challenge ending to measure your results. – I’m going to do both. Tomorrow I’m going to pick a workout and perform it, post results and repeat at the end of the challenge. I’ll also be sharing my weight. Hopefully you’ll find that motivating as well! – Picture credits & Paleo rules go to Moxie for Life. [...]
