It has been hard sticking to Paleo principles while not feeling well. I guess I got a bug of some sort again. Bleck. Yesterday I ate almost nothing but a couple pieces of toast and some soup. Today I ate only a little again, but stayed on plan. No bread or anything. What do you guys think about what you should eat when you don’t feel good?
I have always felt like you should listen to your body especially when it’s down and when my body says “toast sounds good” I eat toast. I know people who would almost die before wavering from their plan, when they are sick. Is this a smart way to go? Opinions?

I say when you’re sick, stick with a diet you know is healthy vs. an experimental / theoretical thing like Paleo, if for no other reason than you don’t have a good basis to measure how the diet is really affecting you (assuming you don’t blame the diet itself for getting sick).

So…on day one I am at 7. Yay!
I take the alternative approach to colds: go even stricter Paleo. Your body tries to fight the cold and the last thing that you need to do is introduce junk for you body to fight to remove. Unless you are severely underweight due to serious illness (like my cousin who can hardly eat 1000 cal per day and is wasting away due to pancreas issues), I would stay stick with the Paleo, you will probably recover faster.

Personally I tend to agree with the thought the less you eat when your sick the better. I go as far to say fast when you are sick. I also think we want things like toast not because our bodies is telling us we want them but because we have “learned” that “saltines” make us feel better. As soon as I get sick Brent is by my side with a box of saltines.
Google fasting while sick and a bunch of great articles will come up.
The next best thing to fasting would be something entirely natural and healthy like Paleo. I’m certain your new diet did not compromise your immune system given you are eating a variety of permitted foods.
Just my 2 cents!
My opinion, is if you are sick, do your best to help yourself recover. That being said, if you are eating shit like gluten, you are just irritating the heck out of your gut and damaging your immune system which needs to be 100% for you to recover from your sickness.

Good thoughts, everyone. I’m doing a lot better today. I’m pretty sure it was food poisoning. Someone is trying to kill me! Probably my kids since I’m trying to make them eat more healthy.

Maybe your health insurance company is trying to kill you so they don’t get stuck with the bill for the chronic diseases you’ll have from not drinking your milk.
