A child no more…sort of.

My biggest kid on his 13th birthday!

It’s hard to believe that I am the mother of a teenager, but rewarding in how awesome he is. So far he is a really nice guy. He tells his Grandma “I love you” with no embarrassment and kisses his mom in public. I wasn’t really prepared for the part of life when he got taller than me, but here it is. It’s an amazing thing when the little thing you looked down on and picked up into your arms to cuddle, now looks you in the eye and could probably carry you around.

He plays the drums really well and got a bass guitar for his birthday that he’s been playing almost non-stop. Christian has a big heart. He wants to learn Japanese and make video games. He loves pop-tarts and Dr. Pepper – what?

I have many really great memories of him when he was little. One that stands out was when he was about 17 months old and I had been playing around with alphabet flash cards. He knew all the letters sounds and the word that went with them. I can still hear him “T, tuh, Turkey”.

Hey, buddy, I love you lots and look forward to the next part of our journey together. You are growing into an amazing young man.

Happy Birthday Christian!!! I remember him sitting on the floor at Michelle’s house reading when he was about three or four. I asked you if you had taught him to read and I remember my chin dropping to the floor when you told me he had taught himself.

You look more like his sister than his mother. :)
