Baby Cow

Injuries suck. That’s all. Plain and simple. I wish I could say that I hurt myself doing something amazing, but I didn’t.

I had successfully completed The Filthy Fifty as I posted below. That afternoon I was back at the gym for a meeting afterward I was sucked into the “let’s play with jump ropes” game. So, I warmed up a little and stretched a [very] little. I went for my first attempt and beat my previous best at 67. I knew that I had more in me but my calf was aching. I rested about 5 minutes and my calf had settled down. So I went for my second attempt. I beat it again at 81! By that time someone had pulled out a mat and people were doing handstands. I joined in and was attempting to walk but failing so I started doing rolls out of my handstands. I decided to do one more and as I tried to stand up, lost my balance and landed on the ball of my foot and as I did, I felt a POP! in my calf and collapsed.

So, now I’m nursing a strained calf. I don’t think it was super extensive since there was no bruising, but enough that I’m going to need to take a couple months off of lower body training. The only part I can say I’m thrilled about it the double under PR put me at #2 on our Wall of Pain. :-)

Maybe, just maybe now I can get that muscle up?
