Tuesday Tip

Try Something New

I’ve recently decided to do something new. Swim. I actually do know how to swim and took swimming lessons as a child like many American children do. I have never swum laps. I now know why.

It’s hard. For the last month-ish I have spent about 30 minutes a week (yes, that’s ALL) swimming. I’m still very weak at it. I lose my breath quickly and my shoulders get tired. I rest almost every 25m and the rest of the day I want to eat non-stop. I must be burning a lot of calories in that half hour.

But to the point, it easy to get in a rut doing the same ole stuff again and again, and your body knows it and becomes stagnant. I want to grow and expand my fitness repertoire. I’m pretty sure I won’t be racing EVER but it’s fun to step out of my comfort zone of the gym or the track and get my feet wet ;-) doing something else. It’s fun to do it with a friend, too. Thanks to my friend, Sue who encouraged me and got me there!

That’s fantastic; and yes, it is hard. For awhile I was getting up early to do 30 min of laps when our Fillmore pool opened at 6am. Ugh! I am NOT a morning person. I need to get back to it (at least out pool is heated).

    Hi Karin!

The pool we are in now is heated…thank God! We will be relegated to the 79 degree pool in two weeks. Sad Face! You should definitely get back to it!
